to remember a house

Oil on canvas, official demolition report printed on A4

A consideration of a derelict, soon-to-be-demolished house in Kotka, Finland.

Through painterly reproductions of the house’s floorboards, interiors, and archival material -alongside the building’s official demolition report- the work reflects on what remains when a building is about to disappear.
Winner of the 2025 Jan Roëde Award. You can read the jury report here.
