I am a Finnish artist based in The Hague. I make figurative paintings -drawing from field-based research, photographs, memories, and archival material- alongside which I often write. The paintings always, or at least almost always, return to questions of memory and place, referring often to their own paintingness, their context, as well as to literature and art history. As of late I’ve been interested in an autofictional approach, though I’m still in the process of figuring out what this means to me exactly, and whether I actually like it, or if it’s just a phase. I will begin an MA in painting at the Royal College of Art in London in September.
